POOC a leader in its bid to achieve its flare out objective in line with the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s target and is demonstrating its support for environmental awareness and protection.

An LPG Gas processing facility with an ultimate capacity of 200 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of lean gas is being constructed. This will end all routine flaring in our operations, and will recover associated gas from our producing wells for processing.

POOC is currently producing 75MMSCFD of lean gas, and is starting with 2 trains that have a total capacity of 130MMSCFD. The scheduled completion date of the Gas Processing Facility is December 2008.

Despite the challenging situation posed by scarcity of Long Lead Items (LLI), POOC has been able to procure more than 85% of its required LLI. Two Factory Acceptance Tests were successfully concluded in Houston in the second quarter of 2008. The first batch of equipment is expected in Nigeria by May 2008.

In addition to reducing pollution in the environment by not flaring out gas, POOC plans to supply some of its gas to the Ihovbor IPP for the generation of 250mw of electricity in the Niger Delta region. This will create an enabling environment for the growth of small scale industries within the environs.
